Christmas Decorating, Part I

Hey everyone! Hope you’ve had a wonderful Saturday. I’ve had a busy busy day full of shopping, decorating, and loads of laundry. I’ve washed, folded and put away 4 loads of laundry since I got done with work yesterday. That never happens. I’m on a roll!

This morning started out with my scheduled long run of 9 miles. I headed out around 7 a.m. and finished in a little over an hour. It was a windy morning, and it was fighting me the whole time. The last couple weeks I have gone beyond my scheduled distance because I was feeling good and wanted to push myself. Not today though. I was happy to get to 9 miles with a pace of 8:22/mile, so I stopped before my time started getting any slower. 🙂

Breakfast was quick and easy when I got home. Greek yogurt + a spiced pear + coffee (lots of it).

photo(131)I cut up the pear into bite-size chunks, add about 2 tbsp of water and sprinkle it with cinnamon, and then microwave for 2 minutes. It gets so nice and soft. I love it! I do the same thing with apples at night a lot. Just up the microwave time to 3 minutes!

Christmas Shopping

I ate quickly and showered before my mom got into Springfield to do a little Christmas shopping. We headed to Target first, where I found my fave purchase of the day.

image(9)Mac got some new Christmas pajamas! He’s been extremely tired today, so I didn’t make him to do a photoshoot. Maybe tomorrow I can get him to pose.

After Target we had lunch at TGIFridays, and then headed onto Marshall’s and Sam’s Club. It was a nice little shopping trip. My mom spoils me too much! She took some of my finds home with her though. My Christmas presents are rarely surprises to me anymore. But at least this way she knows that I’ll like it since I picked it out!

Christmas Tree is Up!

My mom headed home mid-afternoon, so this left me with the rest of day to get my tree up! I pulled the Christmas tree box out of the garage, and Mac had to check it out immediately.

image(11)I found the directions and was instantly reminded why this is never fun. Color-coded branches = failure. The colors had faded from last year, and I almost panicked when I thought I lost a couple branches.

image(12)After an hour, it was finally put together with all the pieces though.

photo(130)I didn’t do the best job at packing up my decorations last year, so I had to dig through all this stuff to find the lights, garland, and ornaments.

image(10)WOO! All done! I’m pretty happy with my cute little huge tree. Last year, this 7.5 feet tall tree kinda took up the whole living room of my small apartment. But it looks awesome in our living room with the vaulted ceiling.

Now, I called this post Part I because all the decorating isn’t done. Truthfully, most of my Fall decor is still up. But the tree was my biggest project, so I’m saving the smaller stuff (wreaths, table settings, etc.) for tomorrow. I just want to get it done before Nick gets home tomorrow night. Stayed tuned to see if I can actually stick with my plans! The Hallmark channel Christmas movies are calling my name now that the tree is up. 🙂 Must. resist. sappy. Christmas. movies. (in a strained voice).

Tomorrow will start with a short 3-miler and then Jazzercise. A little exercise should set me on the right path for the day (fingers crossed). Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

11 Miles and Christmas Sweaters

Hey gang! Happy Sunday evening! It’s been a great weekend around here, and I hope yours was just as swell!

Friday evening kicked off with teaching a Jazzercise class before Nick and I headed off to a Taco Party at my boss’s house. Our whole department was invited, and we had a great time! We arrived extra late because of my class, so I didn’t get to take any photos, but the homemade tacos were out of this world! Nick and I both ate our fill and chatted for about an hour before we headed home for the night.

11 Miles

Saturday morning began somewhat early (I let myself sleep in until around 7:30!), and I took off on my longest run yet!

photo(128)11.26 miles! Woo hoo! It was a beautiful morning, around 45-50 degrees, and I felt great overall! I paused at the 5.5 mile mark to chew up some gu’s. I tried out the Jelly Belly brand chews that I found at Academy Sports. Loved them! They are small jelly beans that taste great and are full of B vitamins with a little caffeine kick! They also come in a small resealable baggie that fits great into the pocket of my running tights. I’m gonna have to try out some different flavors and stock up for my half marathon!

Lunch

After my 11 miler, I was tired and hungry (duh). So after a shower and lots of water, I decided I was craving Mexican food, especially guacamole.

photo(127)YUM. We headed out to Jose Locos for a quick lunch that began with a huge bowl of the green stuff! I ate my fill of the guac before my huge plate of food arrived.

photo(126)Beef taco + chicken flauta + chicken quesadilla. Even my post-run tummy couldn’t finish this whole plate. It was all amazing though! And it kept me full through most of the day, which can be quite a task after a run for me.

Doggie Christmas Sweater

photo(121)After lunch, Nick and I stopped by Walmart (ughh) to pick up a few essentials. While browsing the Christmas aisles, I came across the perfect Christmas sweater for Mac!

photo(125)I saw it and immediately knew I HAD to get it for him. He was super thrilled to see it when I brought it out of the shopping bag at home.

photo(124)Such a handsome boy. But don’t worry, to make up for the sweater photoshoot I also bought him a disgusting tasty treat.

photo(122)Yup, that is a bag of pig ears. Eww. But he loved them and completely forgot about the hot sweater I made him wear. 🙂

photo(123)Anyways, the sweater has been put away until we get a little closer to December. I’m holding onto my pretty Fall decorations around the house as long as possible! No Christmas trees around here….yet.

Today has been full of relaxing, Jazzercise, and grocery shopping. Exciting stuff to cap of a good weekend! I hope your have a great night and get in some good sleep to prepare for the coming week. I’ll be headed off to my bed shortly. Nighty night!

STL Weekend, Part II

Sunday morning in STL was wonderful for several reasons.

  1. Mac let me sleep in until 7:30.
  2. I got to sneak away for another nice run.
  3. The Cardinals won the ballgame the night before!

Everyone was kinda sleeping in and moving slow on Sunday morning, so I had one large mug of coffee before heading out on another run on the Maramec Bottom Trail.

photo(108)It was way too pretty for me not to stop quickly and snap a few pics. Plus breathing breaks are always good. 🙂 Especially when your struggling to breathe in the cold air.

photo(5)It was pretty darn cold outside yesterday morning, but I stayed fairly warm in my long sleeves and ear warmer. Next item to purchase for my winter running: thermal gloves that I can use with my iPhone. My fingers were about frozen on the shady parts of the path. But it was almost too pretty for me to care.

The path runs along the Maramec river, and the views were extra beautiful during the quiet morning. I made it to 8 miles in a little over an hour with a slightly slower pace than my Saturday run.

I headed back to Nick’s parents house sweaty, tired, and almost frozen. I didn’t realize how cold I was until I had a hot cup of coffee in my hands. I had a quick cup of Chobani Greek yogurt before I took a long, hot shower to warm up.

The rest of the morning was spent shopping with Karen, Nick’s momma. She is an awesome bargain hunter, so I love going on shopping trips with her. We went to Ulta to spend the gift card she gave me for my birthday, and then went into Target where I spent wayyyy to much money. What is it about Target that makes women spend 3x the money they intended on spending?! Anyways, I was excited to find a few Christmas presents, some running gear, and some seasonal coffee!

photo(104)I already tried this Caramel Apple coffee this morning, and it is absolutely amazing. Not too appley, and it was even good with my pumpkin spice creamer. I think I’ll have it again in the morning!

I also found Mac’s Halloween costume for Thursday night…

photo(101)He’s a ferocious T-Rex!!

Rawrrrrrr

He is so scary. The large hat and tiny arms on this costume sold me. I couldn’t stop laughing at it in the store, so I knew I had to bring it home.

photo(102)Doesn’t he look happy?? Well maybe it’ll make him happier to wear it Thursday night while the trick-or-treaters come around. It will at least get him some good attention!

After we made it home from shopping (and Mac tried on his costumer), we had a quick lunch and packed up the car to head home. I drove so Nick would hold Mac and relax on the drive back, so most of the trip went like this.

photo(103)Mac is a cool dude. Or at least he thinks so.

All-in-all it was an awesome weekend, and I can’t wait for Thanksgiving so we can go back to visit again!

Have a great Monday night, everyone. I’ll see you all tomorrow! I’m debating getting up early for a little run. We’ll see what my body decides to do in the morning. :)Nighty night!
