Summer Ramblings

Hey peeps!! It’s me, Christine. I’m alive. I’ve returned from the land of Busy & Lazy. I hope you are all having a great summer! Mine is going well!

So in a nut shell, let me catch you up on what I’ve been up to…

1. It’s hot, so running sucks. But I’ve still been logging the miles. I’ve been running a bit slower with the heat/humidity, and I’m okay with it. I still made it to 152 miles for July, though! Woot!

2. I ran a 10K in July! And I got 4th in my age division! Yay! It was the Girls Just Wanna Run 10K here in Springfield, and I ran it just for fun.

3. I’ve taught a gazillion Jazzercise classes! And it’s been great! I’m thankful to workout in the air conditioning on the crazy hot summer days. 🙂 The team-taught Fourth of July class was the best!

4. We’ve been to STL a few times! Once for a family reunion and once for a wedding. Trips to Nick’s parents house make me happy – and not just because of the pool. HA!

0000084505-IMG_4429 0000084505-IMG_4609 0000084505-IMG_4614There’s my family! Can you spot me? We be cute. 🙂

5. I decided to do the Whole30 to help with my digestive/tummy issues! I finished my 30 days on July 29th, and I’m feeling 100% better. It’s been a struggle, but somehow I can’t bring myself to go back to eating like I did before! If you aren’t familiar with the Whole30, go check out their website. It’s an amazing program, and I just purchased their book It Starts With Food. I can’t wait to read it!

6. My sorority sister, Lindsay, is getting married! So we had a bridal shower for her last Saturday! And we are going to Vegas for the Bachelorette party on the 15th. Any tips/advice?! This will be my first Vegas experience.

7. I’ve been hanging with Nick and Mac a lot because I love those guys. When I’m not busy running/working/Jazzercising, you can find me at home with these two!

Anyways, that’s all I have for now. 🙂  My summer in a nutshell. I will definitely be back to share tales of my Whole30.

Have any of you ever completed the Whole30? If so, I would love to hear about it and your life after the Whole30! For me, I’m still in the honeymoon phase. I don’t hate eating clean yet, and I feel like I can be flexible with it since I’m past the 30 days. Like at that bridal shower last weekend? I totally didn’t even feel guilty eating that cake. And it was fantastic.

Hope you are having a great Wednesday!

Cooler Runs & Rain Jackets

Happy Thursday! I hope you all have had great weeks. I can’t believe it’s already almost the weekend again! Geez! I’ve decided life will never slow down, so this is my new norm. Although, my spring racing season is almost over. So what does that mean?! More sleeping in! More running for fun! More Jazzercise! And then also…more anxiety because I haven’t raced in so long! Haha!

So this week has been wonderful for running because the temps have dropped drastically. Every morning has been around 35-45 degrees! Perfect! So I got in a quick 6 miles yesterday and then 5 miles this morning.

Each run started out super slow for me. But I’ve read somewhere that you should never judge a run by the first mile. So by mile 2, I tried to add in some speed work to make my legs remember what it feels like to run some 8:30 splits. It’s wasn’t super fun, but it did feel good to go fast and suck some cold air into my lungs. If I want to get a new half marathon PR below 1:54, I’ll have to really push some speed work this weekend and early next week!

Along with the cooler temps came a lot of rain. And by a lot, I mean ALOTTTT. So poor Mac has been cold and wet since Monday. But never fear – mommy pulled his lovely rain coat/poncho out for such a soggy occasion!

He hates me. Like really, really hates me. But he stayed dry. 🙂

Soggy doggie no more! He even went pee while wearing the jacket which was a miracle. In the past, he refused to potty with it on, which completely defeats the purpose. But yesterday he was brave and found that it is indeed safe to pee while wearing his yellow poncho!

Off subject here, but if you have a little male dog, does he pee on literally anything that sticks up out of the ground? Because Mac does. And he totally doesn’t care what it is. If it’s taller than the grass, he is gonna mark it.

As for a recap of the rest of my week, it’s been work and Jazzercise like normal. I’ve also been trying to eat a large salad at lunch everyday and have at least one serving of fresh berries!

And I must say, the fresh berries have been a welcome change to my eating habits! Plus they are a sure sign that summer is right around the corner!

Well have a great night, folks. It’s jazzercise like normal for me. I’ve got some new songs and I’m excited to teach! Wish me luck!

86 Degrees and Sunny

Yep, I’m going to roast. 86 degrees and sunny is the forecast for Branson during my Divas Half Marathon this coming Sunday. I may or may not burst into flames at the finish line. Ha! Not to be dramatic or anything… 🙂

This cold weather lover is definitely going to struggle, but I’m trying to stay positive. It’s going to be such a fun weekend and race, so I shouldn’t let awesome, sunny weather get me down! Plus my new bling is going to be pretty darn great.

Blingy bling!! I’m really stinking excited for our weekend in Branson. It’s going to be the perfect mini vacay to kick off the summer months. So far, we are planning to hit the awesome outlets and have dinner at Joe’s Crab Shack. I haven’t had good seafood in ages!! I love me some crab legs!

So far this week had been busy with Jazzercise classes and a couple short runs. After teaching 3 classes yesterday, my coworkers were kind enough to bring me this giant, pink donut. Which I graciously inhaled in about 4 bites. And I’ve still been pretty ravenous today after my active evening and run this morning. Buy never fear! I’m meeting my girlfriends Carley and Heather after work at a Ladies Night at the International Wine Center. Wine samples and appetizer samples galore! I can’t wait! I can’t stay long though. I’ve gotta start packing for the race weekend.

Speaking of packing, it should be fairly easy this time because of the gorgeous weather forecast. Just need some shorts, flip flops, and my running gear! I’ll also be packing for Mac since he would never think of missing mommy’s diva race!

This is Mac being extra spoiled last weekend and laying with his bum on my shoulder. Weirdo dog? Yep! But I love him! So my weekend wouldn’t be complete without him and Nick there to support me!

I hope your week is going great so far! Only 2 more work days lefts before we can breathe a little easier. 🙂 I’m off to my Ladies Night, so I’ll see you all later!
