Tuesday Blues

Happy Tuesday gang! I hope your day is going better than mine. From the title of this post I’m sure you can tell that I’m having a case of the Tuesday Blues, and I’m not loving it.

This morning came wayyyyy too early. I woke up at 5 AM and couldn’t fall back asleep. This was supposed to be my day to actually sleep in! Sadly, my body didn’t understand. I decided to get up and start my day early with Mac on the couch drinking coffee and going over some new Jazzercise songs I learned last night. I was thankful for the few extra minutes to work on downloading my music and going over the routines for tonight’s classes, but I would have gladly stayed asleep in bed instead. Oh well.

I downed lots of Cheerios and coffee during my extra hour this morning, but it all went unpictured because, well, it was 5 AM. I got in the shower at my normal time of 6:30 and made it to work feeling extra lively with all the caffeine pumping through my veins.

photo(81)I had some yogurt and a Honeycrisp apple at my desk, but I could barely finish the large apple. I’m not used to having big bowls of Cheerios at home before work!

I hit a brick wall around 9:30 from my lack of sleep and have been tired, grumpy, and icky feeling ever since. I’m a real delight today, to say the least. 🙂

The morning dragged on, and I headed home around noon to get some lunch and walk Mac. Luckily he was his normal perky self which added a little sunshine to my day! I still wasn’t feeling too hungry though, so I had a salad with lots of veggies…

photo(82)And some lowfat cottage cheese on the side for protein. Hopefully this will tide me over through my double classes this evening!

Thank goodness for Jazzercise on days like today. I need a good workout to boost my endorphines and pull me out of this funk! By the time my second class begins, I’ll be feeling back to my normal self I’m sure.

Half Marathon Training Update

As for my half marathon training, yesterday was my rest day which I greatly enjoyed! I relaxed at home all night with Mac without any guilt. 🙂 I’m still a little sore today from Saturday’s long run, but hopefully my classes tonight will help warm me up and stretch me out enough to be ready to run again tomorrow morning. On the schedule for tomorrow is at least 5 miles. I’ll try to tackle this in the morning before work while it’s extra cold. If I’m going to run a half marathon in January, I’ve gotta get this body used to the freezing temps! Wish me luck!

I hope you have a great Tuesday! I’ll see you tomorrow, and I promise to be in a better mood. 🙂

Almond Butter Attack

Hello! We’re done with the Thursday work day. Hooray! And now for something funny…

photo(109)Haha I saw this pug on Pinterest today and could not resist sharing it with you. I feel bad for the chunky pug but I can’t help but laugh! Aren’t tiny dogs the best??

Lunch

Lunch today was pretty normal but did not come together supa fast because I was lazy last night. So I put together a green salad with lotsa veggies as soon as I got home and topped it with the last little bit of Catalina dressing that I could scrape out of the bottle.

photo(108)I then was craving some weird/random combo of savory and tangy. So I threw together a mix of red onions, some tuna, and some cottage cheese.

photo(105)Looks kinda unappealing right? Well I added some sweet & spicy mustard and mixed it all up, which made it even more appetizing.

photo(107)Mmmmm mmmm tasty. It looks even yummier close up.

photo(106)Haha, ok, I’m obvously being sarcastic, but it did taste great and had lots of protein to cure a grumbly tummy.

My lunch was relatively light until I remembered the jar of almond butter I received yesterday, and I had an almond butter attack!

IMG_1969I proceeded to eat about 5-6 spoonfuls of the stuff leaving my stomach overly stuffed and satisfied. Ughhh, I don’t think I’ll be ready to eat again until after Jazzercise tonight.

I tend to have to hide the nut butters from myself in my kitchen (Nick puts them up out of my reach), and this almond butter will be no different. Yes, I know nut butters are healthy, especially for someone that is active like myself. But it becomes a problem when you accidentally polish off half the jar in one setting! Keep it away! Far far away!

Well I’m off to Jazzercise. I wanted to get this post published before I got home later and began my race to get everything together for this weekend. On tonight’s agenda: pick out my rehearsal dinner outfit. I was supposed to do it last night but that obviously didn’t happen!

If I’m scarce this weekend, you can blame it on Katie and her wedding. I’ll for sure be back soon with lots of wedding pics and excitement to share! Have a great Thursday night!

Tortoise Speed

This morning I was in a great mood when I woke up at 5 AM to head to the gym! I was ready to take on the day…or so I thought.

When I got to the gym and hopped on the Elliptical to warm up, I felt like my muscles were stuck with glue. I could barely move! My body was just TIRED. Mentally I felt great. Physically, not so much. I wanted to get out of there and head home immediately but knew I’d be angry with myself. So I powered through an hour mix of Elliptical cardio and a circuit strength set at Tortoise Speed. I was moving SO slow in comparison to my normal self in the gym. Even after I was warm and attempted a quick 5 minute run before heading home at the end of my hour, I still didn’t feel like my normal self. But I have to remind myself: Any workout, no matter how small, is still a victory for the day. Even if you feel like a tiny, struggling turtle! 🙂

Breakfast

Breakfast today began with an unpictured banana on my way home from the gym. By the time I got to the office, my tummy was grumbly! Usually on Fridays, I try to treat myself a little and make a big batch of yummy overnight oats for my breakfast. But I was feeling super lazy after my Jazzercise marathon last night, so that didn’t happen. I opted for my go-to breakroom oatmeal with fresh blueberries and some Greek yogurt.

photo(68)I added too much water to my oats, so they were exploding a bit more than normal this morning! But my stomach didn’t complain.

I was extra hungry when I left my house this morning, so I grabbed a fairly substantial mid-morning snack.

photo(69)This Chocolate Peppermint Stick Luna Bar was like Christmas and healthiness all wrapped up into one delicious bar! I bought it on a whim last weekend when Luna bars were on sale at Dillon’s. I should’ve bought the entire box because these little beauties are amazing!

photo(70)The best part is that peppermint coating on the bottom!! Yum! (And you can ignore my ginormous to-do list in the background. Work’s been a little crazy lately!) Plus, this little bar kept me full til lunch around 1 PM.

Lunch

Lunch today left me feeling extra full! Which is always a feat for this bottomless pit. I threw together my go-to salad to start. Loaded with all the extra mushrooms and snap peas in the fridge, as they were both nearing the end of life.

photo(73)For a few more veggies, I reheated the balsamic green beans I made the other evening. Still just as yummy!

photo(72)I then whipped up a quick bowl of 2 eggs with a splash of unsweetened almond milk and 3 spoons of cottage cheese. I microwaved this concoction for around 2 minutes, stirring halfway, and it came out to the perfect consistency to be eaten like a cheesy-eggy dip with some wheat bread.

photo(71)Looks weird, but tastes amazing! Plus with all the protein of the eggs and cottage cheese, I was sitting pretty with a full belly. This was just something I threw together at the last minute as an experiment, but it ended up being awesome. I will definitely try it again – maybe for breakfast tomorrow before Jazzercise!

Tonight right after work I’m looking forward to getting my hair cut with my fabulous stylist at Moda, downtown Springfield. Just a trim, nothing crazy. But we do have to discuss my updo she is doing for me the day of Katie’s wedding. I’ve got a lot of hair, and I’m afraid it could be a beast to get up on top of my head and look fancy. But hopefully she will be a miracle worker for me!

And on my way to the hair salon, I’ve got to stop and pick up my race packet for tomorrow’s Glow Run 5K! It’s tomorrow night at 8 PM. The weather is supposed to be cool and gorgeous. It’s going to be such a fun evening! Plus, it’s my girlfriend Carley’s first 5K experience. I know she’ll love it. 🙂 I can’t wait to see all the neon glowing runners!
