Fat & Frumpy Friday

Happy Friday, ya’ll! We’ve finally reached the weekend again. It’s been a longggggggg week, so tonight’s R & R session will be highly enjoyed! I teach a 5:40 pm Jazzercise class right after work, and then I have no plans! WOOHOOO!! Between teaching double classes each night and 1 long run this week, this girl is just about spent. I can’t wait to sit on my couch and watch the Cardinals baseball game! Nick thinks we need to go watch this game in a sports bar. But I think it would be much more enjoyable viewed from my couch in my snuggie. 🙂

So to explain the post title, is it just me, or do you have days where you feel awesome, light as air, and your pants slide on perfectly? And then there are days where you feel fat, frumpy, and you can barely get your pants buttoned?? Yup, the latter option is me today. I’m not feeling so hot. I feel like I gained 10 lbs. in my tummy overnight. I think I had too much dairy yesterday, and I’m paying for it today. UGH.

My lactose intolerance has been haunting me this week. I’ve had an upset stomach at least once a day from even the smallest amount of dairy. My stomach and I are not really friends right now, to say the least. So this weekend needs to be extra light in the yogurt and cheese department.

Weekend Plans/Goals

Does it help you to write things out when you know you have a lot you would like to accomplish in a short amount of time? Well it helps me. A lot.

This weekend is going to be a busy (but fun!) one I hope. Starting tomorrow morning, I have to…

  • Drop off my car at the dealership to be serviced at 8 AM
  • Teach a 9:15 Jazzercise class
  • Get my license renewed…cause my bday is a comin’!
  • Fit in a long run (shooting for 8-10 miles!)
  • Attend the wine fest that is happening downtown (2-5 pm I think??)
  • Attend my friend Mel’s Halloween party (starts at 7!)

Now only time will tell if I can get all that done. At least the last 2 things are purely for fun, so if I’m not feeling up to it, I can spend the rest of my day at home with Mac! And speaking of Mac, he got a very pretty haircut yesterday…

photo(79)He can finally see without the hair sticking into his eyeballs!

photo(80)Poor little guy had some crazy facial hair going on. All better now!

Lunch

Lunch today was easy since I threw together a nice salad last night.

photo(78)Lots o’ radishes! Yum! There is some dark green romaine in there somewhere…I promise. I then finished off a teeny tiny bowl of the leftover chili from last Sunday. I’m sad that it’s all gone now! But luckily I had an order from Vitacost waiting at my door for me that had something yummy to help finish off my noon meal.

photo(77)Granola! This stuff was on sale, so I though I would give it a try. It’s all natural and extra delicious. My favorite part of the package?? The fact that it says ‘No Fat Added’… because I definitely am worded about lotsa fat being added to my granola…haha. Not the first thing that pops into my head when I think about the nutrition facts of granola, but hey, no added fat is a good thing!

photo(76)I ate way too many handfuls of this stuff once I finished off my lunch of salad and chili. Oh well…it was delicious, and I’ll work off the extra carbs at Jazzercise tonight!

I hope you have had a great Friday so far! It’s almost 5, so if you’re working the day away, keep your chin up! Almost there! I’ll see you all tomorrow – hopefully I can report that I got most of my ‘to do’ list done.

Have a wonderful evening/weekend!

Mac Turns 2!

Hey everyone! I feel like I’ve been scarce around here for some reason. It’s been a hectic beginning to my week, so I’m very thankful to have tonight off of teaching. I love me some Jazzercise, but I also love me some time at home with my doggie, Mac!

And speaking of Mac, he turns 2 years old this month!

IMG_2260Ahhh look at that tail wag. Just ignore the hair in his eyes. He is going to the groomers in the morning for a spa day. 🙂

In honor of his big day, Nick and I did a little gift shopping after my run on Saturday.

IMG_2262We picked up the cutest hoodie/sweater and a chew bone that stands up on its own! Mac had troubles paying attention to mommy with that bone around.

IMG_2264That’s better.

I’m so thankful for my little guy each and every day. He is always so happy to see me when I get home, and then snuggles into bed with me each night. He’s spoiled, but it’s for good reason. I love him! Plus, he’s cute so that makes him extra easy to love.

IMG_2266The sweater fits perfectly, and he’s been wearing it just about everyday as the temps have dropped to the mid-50’s here in Springfield. He’s not a ‘fufu’ dog, but he definitely enjoys being warm and cozy in some nice sweaters.

And in other news, I signed up for my FIRST HALF MARATHON!! I’m beyond excited! I’m going to be running the half marathon in the St. Louis Track Club‘s Frostbite Series in January. I feel like I have a good base for my training after preparing for the 10K, so I’ll just continue my running to increase my distance between now and January 25!

Any words of wisdom for this first time half marathoner?! Any advice is appreciated. I’m going into this pretty blindly I feel like even though I’ve done tons of research. Comment and let me know any awesome tips you may have to offer!

Morning Run & Breakfast

So in honor of finally registering for the half marathon (I’ve been thinking about it for a while now), I woke up bright and early today to complete 7 miles around my neighborhood. I completed it in around 59 minutes and felt great the whole time. The temps were in the low 40’s, and I was still comfortable. I’m sure my attitude will change as the temps keep on dropping during these months of training I have ahead of me.

I ate breakfast as soon as I got to the office, so it was my typical grab-n-go style morning meal.

photo(79)Luna bar. Banana. And yogurt. The Luna bar was extra chocolatey – I loved it!

Lunch

The morning went by quickly and I was headed home for lunch in no time! I started with a big salad full of romaine, spinach, snap peas, broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower.

photo(77)I topped this baby with my new favorite dressing, Lite Balsamic Vinaigrette, and a few dried cranberries. It was super tasty! And I finished off the rest of my meal with another bowl of the spicy chili I made on Sunday.

photo(75)Yum!!

And now I’m just relaxing at home, trying to catch up on some household chores that have been pushed aside so far this week. I also need to set up a good training plan for this half marathon so I’ll have some good guidelines to keep up with during these next few months. Should be a productive evening!

Have a good one, and I’ll see you all tomorrow!

Snuggly and Cozy

Good morning!! I’m so excited/relieved/happy that it is Friday! This has been one insanely busy week, so I was very thankful when this morning rolled around.

When I went to bed last night, I was in a complete food coma from all the food I ate at my Kappa Delta Alum meeting. So I slept great and even let myself sleep in til 6:15 AM before hopping into the shower. The forecast was calling for a rainy start to the day so there was no way I was going to wake up extra early for a run. Plus, Nick is going out of town to visit his family for the weekend right after work tonight, so I’ll have plenty of time to get in a nice long workout this evening. Depending on the weather, it may be a long run outside with Mac or I may head to the gym after work. All I know for sure is that I need to sweat and move my body after my indulging evening.

Breakfast

Breakfast this morning was going to be light, but then I realized I had lots of these little beauties leftover!

photo(85)Coooooookies! I had some Greek yogurt, a banana, and then several of these pumpkin oatmeal cookies to tide me over this morning. I brought the rest of the cookies into work to pawn off on my coworkers so I wouldn’t be tempted to eat them all while I have the house to myself this weekend. Thankfully, the cookies are now gone, so I can move on and away from the sweets for a few days!

And on that note, don’t you hate when you have a larger-than-normal meal, and then you can’t seem to get full during the following meals for a day or two? I swear my stomach gets ‘stretched out’ when I overeat by even the tiniest bit, and then it takes several days for my appetite to get back to normal. It’s a vicious cycle!

Today is drizzly and kinda sad looking outside, which is bringing on some cooler temperatures for the weekend. I’m going to take advantage of Nick being gone and hang up all our Fall decor and get lots of Mac snuggle time in while burning some Pumpkin scented candles…

Weekend outlook....Cold and pitiful

We’ll be snuggly/cozy tonight for sure! Have a great Friday, gang.
